Class Schedule
Each of the following classes represents a technique that you will learn to help you grow your quilting knowledge. We know that this time of year your time is particularly precious, so each class is only a single 2 hour session. Likewise, we wanted to offer these technique classes at a very special class rate of only $10.00 each. Unless otherwise noted the class times are as follows:
AM: 9:30 – 11:30
PM: 6:00 – 8:00
•Free Motion Quilting… Tips, Techniques and Treasures.
This two hour class is intended to help you expand your free motion quilting experience. Learn to do more than just stippling. We’ll work with paper and pencil as well as with our sewing machines to come up with new and exciting designs. We will also discuss quilting design choice. You should have a basic understanding of machine quilting to participate in this class.

•English Paper Pieced Posies
English paper piecing is a technique that is old as the hills… but now there is a way to do it that makes it easy. Gone are days of making all those newspaper hexagon templates. Using freezer paper and your computer, you’ll turn out templates galore. (there will be a nominal kit fee for your templates) In this class you will get enough hexagons made to turn them into a charming pin cushion or go on to make more to use in a project of your choice. Judy will share her many hexagon quilts with you to give you some ideas.

•Rotary Cutting 101… Basics and Beyond
We’ll cover everything you need to learn to use a rotary cutter properly. Two things are essential to great quilt making… keeping an accurate seam allowance and exact cutting. A rotary cutter allows you to do this, but you have to know how to use it properly. This class will show you how to do it the right way.

•Dresden Plate
Using a Plexiglas template and rotary cutter will we cut perfect Dresden Plate pieces… then we’ll put them together by machine… appliqué them to their base (by machine or hand) and you’ll be on your way to a delightful little quilt… this is definitely the way to make a Dresden Plate!

•Hand Quilting
Bring a project that’s ready for quilting or just bring a practice “sandwich” and we’ll teach you all the basics of hand quilting in this workshop. Hand quilting is a relaxing, therapeutic hobby that is easy to master with practice.

•Exploring Color
Working with fabrics from your stash and a color wheel I’ll teach you what to look for and plan for when picking out fabrics for your next quilt. We’ll cover the basics of color theory in laymen’s terms, it will all make sense… you’ll learn why some quilts sparkle and some just don’t make it.

•Intro to Paper Piecing
Working with a supplied pattern you will learn the basics of paper piecing… an easy and uncomplicated way to create perfect blocks, that normally are not so easy… Think New York Beauty or Mariners Compass blocks.
